Kids find meals, smiles at local feeding sites
What's for lunch?
That's the question asked by students like Penelope McHam when they arrive at one of nearly 20 summer feeding sites across Lawton and Fort Sill.
On this day at Ridgecrest Elementary, the menu included a hot dog, several pieces of fruit and a little something extra in the form of cookies and a small bag of chips. The meal is well-balanced with protein, fruits and vegetables and sometimes a dessert. Before she sat down in the air conditioned cafeteria to eat with her brother, Liam McHam, and several other neighborhood kids, Penelope McHam said she was grateful for the program.
