RollerGirls skate home Saturday
The 580 RollerGirls are readying to host their next home bout Saturday night when the Lighting Broads come to the Great Plains Coliseum.
The RollerGirls, now 3-4 for the season, the Oklahoma City-based team with a 7 p.m. bout Saturday, at the complex, 920 S. Sheridan. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Discounts for military and student identification. Kids 10-and under get in free.
Trigger Trixie, a former 580 skater, is returning to play against 580. She was a fan favorite with 580RG and has become a fan favorite in the Oklahoma City area as well. She recently won tournament MVP honors for OKVD in a Colorado tournament.
The 580 RollerGirls are giving away a complete set of school supplies to the first 30 children to attend the game. Supplies include erasers, a composition notebook, glue stick, pencils, blue and black pen, two pocket folders, box of 24 crayons, a ruler and one subject notebook. The team is also donating loose leaf paper, colored pencils and pencil boxes to round out the set.
"Our team co-captain, Kurvacious Pride, has been collecting these items for a while because she wanted to give back to the students," said Coach/skater Ellen Lechel, Elle Beau Macaroni.
Open recruitment will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Laugh Out Loud, 6720 Quanah Parker Trailway. All those interested in joining simply need to show up to get more information.
Non-skating officials and referees are also needed for the upcoming season.
