No. 7 Buffs sweep Ags in baseball
CANYON, Texas – Cameron's long wait to finally start a Lone Star Conference baseball series against West Texas didn't work out well as the No. 7-ranked Buffs slapped a pair of losses on the Aggies Sunday by the scores of 10-5 and 12-2.
The Aggies are now 15-22 overall and 5-9 in Lone Star Conference contests, while the Buffs improve to 28-7 overall and remain undefeated at 10-0 in league action. The series will close Monday with another doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
Sunday WT opened up game one with a bang, scoring four runs on a pair of homers in the second inning. However, the Aggies answered right back in the top of the third as Trey Bigford drove in Luke Hughes on a RBI groundout and then Cole Williams drove in a pair on his team leading sixth homer of the year.
The Buffs then scored six straight runs, adding one on a solo homer in the third and then five more in the fourth to take a 10-3 lead.
Cameron added two more runs in the next two innings, as Hughes scored on a wild pitch in the fifth and Briton Schiewe homered in the fifth, but the damage had already been done as WT held CU scoreless in the seventh to earn the 10-5 victory.
