Ike's Parker tries to stay well-rounded
The senior class for Eisenhower's football team is characterized by experience, leadership qualities, versatility and play-making abilities.
Wide receiver Kinyon Parker happens to exhibit all four traits.
Parker has been on the Eisenhower varsity football team since his sophomore year and in that time, he has developed from a young up-and-comer to a savvy veteran.
The senior is a key part of the Eagles' offense and knows that though being a senior brings plenty of fanfare and fun, it also carries a burden of responsibility.
"I just got to come out here, lead the team and push them to go 100 percent every day at practice," Parker said. "(I) just hope they come off of me, because I'm going hard so I hope they do the same thing."
Like several of his teammates, Parker plays more than just one sport. Parker began playing sports with friends Kenneth Graham and RJ Fisher when he was younger and kept at it throughout adolescence. All three have been key components to the Eisenhower basketball team. In an era when so many young athletes are told to specialize and focus on one sport, Parker and his teammates have heSslped prove that being multi-sport athlete can still be done.
