Hopkins feeds off teammates’ tough love

It's another warm summer night in Oklahoma and with baseball tournaments in full swing for the coming two months, the Southwest Shockers' dugout is loose and chirpy  as usual. Players are motivating one another in their own quirky ways.

"All State catchers don't make excuses!" All-State shortstop and pitcher Jaken Snider, from Elgin, says to fellow All-State player, catcher Brady Hopkins from Granite after Hopkins made the throw to second base on a mimic steal during second inning warmups of a pool game in the Jim Walton Tournament.

Tough love. It's a staple in the Shockers' clubhouse.
