Senior health main aim of Expo
There is still time to reserve vendor space at the Senior Health & Wellness Expo from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 19. This expo will also feature a free Pet Health Fair at Great Plains Technology Center, 4500 W. Lee.
The senior health event coordinated by the Center for Creative Living (CCL) will be in the Worley Auditorium. Door prizes will be given throughout the day. Free breakfast, lunch and admission will be provided for seniors.
More than 40 vendors have secured space for this event to inform area seniors about services available. For vendor space information call 248-0471, or stop by the Center for Creative Living at 3501 Dr. Elsie Hamm Drive.
Reservations for the Pet Health Fair (dogs only) must be made by calling 291-6641. Pet drop-off will be at 8:30 a.m.
"We want to be able to educate this group of seniors that come to this event and help them live longer and stronger," said Lorene Miller, executive director for CCL. "We want to help them be active. We want to help them with basic needs such as anxiety and depression. We have a grief support class here. Depression and anxiety are huge with seniors citizens, especially around the holidays. Since I've been here next month will be three years we've had one person take her own life because of depression. I don't know if the grief support group would have helped her, but she didn't go to it."
