Women's conference to teach leadership skills
Cameron University will present "CU Empowering Women in Leadership and STEM", a conference aimed at strengthening the leadership skills of women, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 23 in the McCasland Ballroom in the McMahon Centennial Complex.
Admission is free and the event is open to the public.
The keynote address, "Cracking the Confidence Code: Create Your Best Year Ever," will be presented by Charmaine McClarie. McClaire is a widely recognized executive coach and a faculty member at the University of Missouri, Kansas City Bloch School of Management, as well as a current visiting lecturer at Smith College.
The keynote address will be followed by a panel discussion designed to expose students to local women in leadership roles and will focus on executive leadership development.
Panelists for the discussion are Charmaine McClarie; Kelea Fisher, deputy city attorney, City of Lawton; Ligaya (Joy) Sandel, chief of case management services and head nurse for pediatrics at Reynolds Army Health Clinic; Lauren E. Ellis, president and CEO, United Way of Southwest Oklahoma; and Sylvia M. Burgess, associate vice president for academic affairs, Cameron University.
