Downtown in December opens at gardens, Red Earth and Bricktown
If it's Christmas events you're looking for, downtown Oklahoma City has a lot to offer this holiday season.
Be it theatrical productions, ice-skating, or shopping, a person could get lost in a winter wonderland. The Devon Energy Company is presenting the Devon Ice Rink for a skater's pleasure. The rink will host daily public skating, private parties and special events through Jan. 28.
Devon Energy will also host Saturdays with Santa on December 9 and 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Devon Energy.
"The ice rink is located at the Myriad Botanical Gardens and is open 7 days a week," Riley Cole of Downtown in December said. "There are many fun events for both children and adults this Christmas season and some of them are free and some have a cost involved. The websites of these events can show the fees."
The Myriad will also host wreath-making classes and will host Festive Fridays through Jan. 1.
The Red Earth Treefest is also on display in Oklahoma City through Jan. 5. The fest features 20 Native American tribes from throughout Oklahoma and their handmade ornaments and art. Each Christmas tree will be decorated by a different tribe to highlight its distinctive culture.
LifeShare Blood Institute will host the snow-tubing exhibition through Jan. 1 at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Visit the only man-made snow slopes in the region and there are two slopes, one for children and one for adults.
Holiday Pop-Up shops will be in the Midtown section of Oklahoma City through December 23. There will be 40+ Oklahoma-owned shops set up and an urban Christmas tree lot until December 23. Shops rotate weekly.
