Corvette owners will show off their cars here
The Southwest Oklahoma Corvette Club will sponsor an All Corvette Show and Wichita Mountains Dinner Cruise Friday and March 25.
The organization will hold a reception for participants from 4-5 p.m. at Classic Chevrolet, Northwest 82nd Street and Cache Road, with a driver meeting to follow. Participantswill depart Classic Chevrolet at 5 p.m. and follow Northwest 82nd Street to U.S. 62, then head west on U.S. 62 to Indiahoma Road, and then north on Indiahoma Road into the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. The route will continue through the refuge via Indiahoma Road to the refuge headquarters and then east on Oklahoma 49 with a stop at Mount Scott, and then past Medicine Park to Interstate 44 and back to Lawton to the Apache Casino Hotel, 2315 E. Gore, for a dinner buffet at 7 p.m.
Saturday's schedule will include the Show-N-Shine Show and Judged Show at the Apache Casino Hotel. Registration will be at 9 a.m. with the show to begin at 10:30 a.m. Awards will be presented at 2:30 p.m. and will include $500 cash and $250 free play to Best of Show Judged Winner, $250 cash to Guest Club with the Most Entires, $100 cash for the Furthest Traveled and over $2,000 in casino free play to be given away. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, prize raffles, a silent auction and, for the first 75 entries, goody bags.
The registration fees for the Corvette show are $35 for the Show-N-Shine and $45 for Judged Show. Proceeds from the show will go to support Operation Homefront and other local charities.
Jeremy Welborn, president of the Southwest Oklahoma Corvette Club, said the club's first show and cruise was in October 2015 and, following that event the club decided to move the annual event to the spring season.
"We should have about 75-100 participants if the weather cooperates," he said. "We invite members of all Corvette clubs to come and join us."
