Mental health class begins Monday

Dear Editor:
I would like to have you convey my thanks to Gary Reddin for the excellent article that he put together about the mental health class. Also, thanks to you and others at the paper who helped get it all done.

Mental health seems to be more and more in the news with all the various shootings, the co-occurring problems with drugs as the mentally ill people try to medicate themselves, and the despair of their families and friends as they try to deal with someone who they don't know anymore.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Southwest Oklahoma can help with the family-to-family class, which we will begin at 5:30 p.m. Monday. Since the class occurs during the dinner hour, we will offer snack food at the meetings. The meetings will be held at the Open Arms Behavioral Health center at 2215 Cache Road, Suite 107.  As of Monday afternoon, we had six people signed up, and we need at least 10 to make the class. We have room and materials for 20 students.

Call Sally Holmes at 580-536-7314 or 580-583-8126, or send an email to leigh62sal@gmail.com to sign up for the class.

Thank you again to everyone at The Lawton Constitution for helping to get the word out.

Sincerely,

Sally Holmes
