Marlow man, 79, faces accusations of repeatedly raping girl, molesting two others

An arrest warrant was issued for a 79-year-old Marlow man accused of repeatedly molesting a girl, and investigators have new reports from other possible victims.

A warrant for the arrest of James Edgar Woods was issued Tuesday in Stephens County District Court for the felony charge of child sexual abuse  victim under 12 years old, records indicate. Punishment is not less than 25 years in prison, if convicted.

Stephens County Sheriff's Deputies first began investigating the case Aug. 31 when Woods came to the office to make a report against the girl's father, who said his daughter accused Woods of molestation, according to the court affidavit.

The man later spoke with investigators and said there were circumstances "that we were not aware of yet," Deputy Dexter Lawler stated. He said it led to him confronting Woods and  shooting his truck for emphasis.

The man said his daughter had been having problems for years and that he'd spent "thousands of dollars for her to have counseling," according to the affidavit. Her counselor told him the girl said she'd been raped by Woods repeatedly between the ages of 8 and 9, in 2008-2009. The girl told investigators "the most that could happen did," beginning when Woods would take her to a barn to "feed the animals," the affidavit states.
