Man jailed for strangling wife, abusing girl, 2

A 23-year-old Duncan man is in jail in lieu of $150,000 bond and looking at possible life in prison after he was accused of strangling a woman and abusing his 2-year-old girl.

Jayden Trey Morse made his initial appearance Wednesday in Stephens County District Court where he was charged with a trio of felony counts: child abuse, child abuse by injury and domestic assault and battery by strangulation; as well as a misdemeanor count of interfering with emergency telephone call, court records indicate. He faces up to life in prison for the child abuse charges and, if convicted, would have to serve at least 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
