Guard colonel from Elgin to step down from command of 45th FAB
MUSTANG The 45th Field Artillery Brigade will bid farewell to outgoing commander Col. Greg Lankford of Elgin at a change of command ceremony on Sunday.
The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. at the Mustang Armed Forces Reserve Center, 420 S. Cedar Springs Lane, Mustang.
The brigade will also welcome its incoming commander, Col. Elmer Holt of Mannford.
Lankford has served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard since 1984. He is a veteran of Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. He commanded 1st Battalion, 158th Field Artillery, during its deployment to Camp Ramadi, Iraq, where his battalion controlled base defense and provided security for Provincial Reconstruction Teams.
Holt assumes command after more than 27 years of service with the Oklahoma Army National Guard. He is a veteran of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
