Duncan murder suspect ruled incompetent, won't stand trial for now

DUNCAN  A Stephens County courtroom was the setting for the ruling of incompetence for a 35-year-old Duncan man accused of the December 2017 killing of his wife and stepfather.

Special District Judge Jerry Herberger made the ruling during Monday's post-evaluation competency hearing for Shane J. Kirk, who was charged in December with two counts of first-degree murder with deliberate intent in Stephens County District Court. Conviction can result in a prison sentence up to life in prison, life in prison without parole or capital punishment.
