ACT, SAT tests may be taken free

Oklahoma public school districts may allow eleventh-graders to take ACT and SAT college-entrance exams free, state Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister announced Tuseday.

Permitting schools to administer tests without a fee not only eliminates students' cost and transportation barriers; it also enables students who would not otherwise take exams to have access to them, she said.

College and universities require students to submit an ACT or SAT score prior to acceptance, and students with an ACT or SAT score will also be qualified to concurrently enroll, which allows them to obtain college credits at reduced cost while still in high school.
