Cyril remains unbeaten

CYRIL  Undefeated Cyril used the first-half passing of Cason McLemore and the running of Colten Camp to run up a 30-0 lead before coasting home in the second half with a 44-14 victory over Ryan at Wendell Whitman Field on Friday night.

McLemore hooked up twice with Jake Toahty on fourth-down touchdown passes to stake the Pirates to a 16-0 lead. Camp rushed for 56 yards in the opening half including a 10 yard touchdown run that added to the lead.

After 12 plays, Cyril faced a fourth-and-10 from the Cowboy 37. McLemore rolled to his right and fired a pass into the end zone that Toahty was able to haul in for the touchdown. McLemore passed to 6-7 tight end Dayken Rackley for the two-point conversion to lead 8-0.

The Pirates forced a three-and-out on Ryan's next possession, taking over on their own 39 with 2:17 left in the opening period.

This time it took 10 plays to cover 61 yards. The big play of the drive was a 20-yard run by Camp that put the ball at the Cowboy 25. Later, after getting a first down at the 11, the Pirates faced a fourth-and-four from the five when McLemore hit Toahty again for a TD. McLemore's run made it 16-0 with 10 minutes left in the first half.
